Lydia's story

Ensuring our volunteers receive the best training and support is vital so they can support others in the endometriosis community - who often turn to them in times of desperate need.

Lydia, one of our newest volunteers, shares her experience:

"When I was first diagnosed, I attended my local Endometriosis UK support group. Having a group of people I could talk to who were going through what I was meant a lot to me. But I moved over a year ago and the closest support group was too far for me to travel. Endometriosis UK helped me to get started as a Support Group Leader for a brand new support group in my area.

I attended my first training session and right from the start a safe space was created for volunteers to share, learn, and empower each other. I learnt so much about the role of Support Group Leader and how to support those with endometriosis responsibly. This training gave me the confidence and tools I need to go forward in my new role as Support Group Leader".
