I am the former mayor for the London Borough of Barking and Dagenham. As an award winning specialist in equality diversity and Human Resource I currently work at London Southbank University as their Head of Equality, Diversity and Inclusion. I was diagnosed with stage four endometriosis in 2010 and have used my political position to raise awareness of the impact of the condition on me and the women that suffer from it.  I am also a trustee of Endometriosis UK.

Hello my name is Maureen Rey and I am a endometriosis clinical nurse specialist working at QH. As a gynae nurse I have always had an  interest in endometriosis and was very happy when I was offered my role in  2015. Endometriosis affects women in different ways such as psychologically,  physically and sexually. For some the disease is so debilitating it prevents them from caring for their family or going to work. My interest has lead me to want to offer women extra support and I believe this can be achieved through setting up a local support group. Women can network with other women and discuss the many issues that affect them.

Looking for medical advice?

Please be aware that our support service are unable to provide medical advice and can only talk about endometriosis based on their own experience. If you need medical advice, please contact your GP or endometriosis specialist.
