Navigating endometriosis with a busy schedule

Work, family, social plans, appointments, or just getting through the day - we asked you what it's really like managing endometriosis when life doesn't slow down.

Our community shared real, lived experiences of the good days and the hard ones, practical tips, and plenty of words of encouragement for anyone still figuring it out. But one theme that ran through so many responses was: being kind to yourself and your body when life gets busy. Read more responses on our Instagram post here.

Zoe Lapwood, one of our nurse support helpline advisors, also shared some of the advice she often gives those managing endometriosis day to day:

“I often advise building in "micro-rests". The aim is to avoid the feeling that you have to choose between doing everything and doing nothing. Even five or ten minutes to take a breath, sit quietly, stretch gently, or use a heat or cool patch before carrying on can be beneficial.”

Zoe continues: “And remember that you don't need to wait until you are really struggling to seek rest or relief. For example, if pain relief is part of your plan, taking it as advised rather than waiting until pain becomes severe may help it to work more effectively, hopefully enabling you to continue with plans and activities.”

Thank you to everyone who shared their experiences with us this summer. Managing endometriosis alongside a busy life isn't always straightforward, but you don't have to navigate it alone. For more information on our support services, please click here
