This year, we were lucky enough to attend Pride Cymru (Cardiff), Pride London, Edinburgh Pride and Kelham Pride (Sheffield). Celebrating with LGBTQIA+ communities and raising awareness of endometriosis and Endometriosis UK is an amazing experience. It is an integral part of ensuring everyone with endometriosis has access to support.
For those who would like to host an information stand on behalf of Endometriosis UK at their local Pride event, get in touch on inclusion@endometriosis-uk.org and we will send you an Endometriosis UK Pride pack.
What will you be doing?
- Host an information stand
- Engage the public with conversation and fun activities highlighting our support and information offer
- Communicate and empathise with people who have different identities, backgrounds and life experiences.
- Take photos and videos to share on our social media channels
- Escalate issues to Pride event organisers
- Provide Endometriosis UK with event and volunteer experience feedback
- Act in line with our Volunteer policies and Code of Conduct
You will receive our Endometriosis UK Pride pack and any additional guidance needed from Endometriosis UK staff leading up to the event day. On the day, you will have support from your Pride event's team. Event expenses will be covered in alignment within our expenses policy, all shared within the pack.
What is required to host a stand?
No special qualifications are needed. You will need to be:
- In support of Endometriosis UK’s mission and commitment to Equality, Diversity and Inclusion
- Confident speaking with the public
- Comfortable in loud and crowded areas
- Able to communicate and empathise with others who have different identities, backgrounds and life experiences
- Aged 16 or over, and have photo ID
We value diversity. Research shows that people from diverse communities are more likely to experience poor healthcare. They are also underrepresented within the endometriosis community and our pool of volunteers. We encourage applications from people from minoritised communities, including people who are LGBTQIA+ and from racial and ethnic minoritised communities
