Endo the Silence on Campus

Get your campus talking about endometriosis

Students with endometriosis deserve better. Despite affecting 1 in 10 women and those assigned female at birth in the UK, far too many go undiagnosed and struggle to access treatment and management. The average diagnosis time in the UK is an alarming 9 years and 4 months, rising to an indefensible 11 years for those from ethnically diverse communities.

For students, symptoms can result in severe pain, missed lectures, disrupted exams, and feelings of anxiety and isolation. As a result, far too many have to consider leaving education completely. This isn’t good enough, and we need your help to end the silence on campus and raise your voices to campaign for better awareness and care for the 1.5 million with endometriosis.

By raising awareness, challenging stigma, and campaigning for better support and faster diagnosis, you can help ensure that endometriosis is no longer overlooked and no student experiencing symptoms of endometriosis or other menstrual health conditions goes unheard. Whether you want to start conversations on campus, influence decision-makers, volunteer your time, or fundraise for the cause, there are lots of ways to get involved and make a difference. Together we can make endometriosis impossible to ignore.

How you can get involved

Raise awareness with your MP:

Ask your MP to support action on endometriosis. Your voice is powerful in driving change. Use our template letter to call for: faster diagnosis, better menstrual health education, and stronger workplace protections for everyone living with endometriosis. Together, we can help ensure every student experiencing poor menstrual health is heard.

Raise awareness in the media:

Get in contact with your university student press such as your university newspaper or student radio station and ask them to run a story on endometriosis.

Write to your local media outlets and share your story or ask them to cover a story on endometriosis on campus.

Use social media to raise awareness of endometriosis, and encourage action by sharing our campaign messages, educational content, and opportunities to get involved.

Raise awareness on your campus:

Bring endometriosis awareness to your Students' Union. Set up a stand to share information, answer questions, and point students towards support - a simple but effective way to get the conversation started on your campus.

Put up leaflets around campus or in local GP surgeries.

Start a dedicated menstrual health society to build a peer support network and work with lecturers and faculty members to invite local doctors, researchers, or patient advocates to host educational seminars. Contact your university admin team to find out more about setting up a society.

Volunteer with us:

Give your time to support others living with endometriosis. Our volunteer roles include helpline volunteer, web chat volunteer, and HealthUnlocked moderator, as well as our support groups that run around the country, and if your area doesn't have one yet, we'd love for you to lead it. Full induction training is provided, so you can make a real difference to the lives of the 1.5 million in the UK living with endometriosis.

Fundraise for us:

Fundraising at university is a powerful way to raise awareness of endometriosis while helping fund vital support services, information resources, and campaigns for change. Every pound raised helps us work towards a future where endometriosis is recognised sooner, understood better, and taken seriously.

There are plenty of ways to get involved. You could join one of our fundraising events, such as Walk for Endo, take on a personal challenge like a run, hike, or skydive, or organise your own event on campus. From pub quizzes and film nights to bake sales, sports tournaments, and charity socials, there so many ways to bring people together while supporting a vital cause.

However big or small, your fundraising helps to continue providing support, much-needed information and campaigning for change. Discover more ways to get involved at https://www.endometriosis-uk.org/fundraise
