Ask Parliamentarians in Scotland, Wales & Northern Ireland to "End the Silence" on Endometriosis

If you live in Scotland, Wales or Northern Ireland, please consider writing to the Scottish Parliament, Welsh Senedd or Northern Ireland Assembly Members who represent your area to ask them to use their voice for Endometriosis Action Month to "End the Silence" on the condition.

By doing this you help raise awareness of endometriosis among parliamentarians, and encourage them to take action to draw attention to endometriosis in the Scottish Parliament, Welsh Senedd and Northern Ireland Assembly, in their local communities and in the media, and to show their support for those with endometriosis.

There is progress happening on endometriosis in all three countries:

  • In Scotland, the Women's Health Plan has made some important committments on endometriosis, which are now starting to be implemented. For more information, please see the speech given by Women's Health Minister Maree Todd MSP at our Scottish Parliament Endometriosis Action Month event.
  • In Wales, the Health Minister Eluned Morgan has now committed to the development of a Quality Statement and Women's Health Plan for Wales and recently announced the appointment of endometriosis specialist nurses for each Welsh Health Board.
  • In Northern Ireland, the Health Minister has shared plans to reinstate specialist care for endometriosis over the next year. We need to make sure this happens during the next term of the Assembly. Elections are taking place in May and we'll be launching a candidate outreach campaign right after Endometriosis Action Month. You can see the Northern Ireland Assembly Endometriosis Action Month event here.

While progress is on the cards, keeping up the pressure on decision makers is important as is holding them to account for promises made. Writing to your Scottish Parliament, Welsh Senedd or Northern Ireland Assembly Members to ask them to support Endometriosis Action Month is a way to ensure endometriosis remains on the policy agenda.
