Yesterday October 14, the All-Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) on Endometriosis launched their report ‘Endometriosis (Not) In the Workplace’. Endometriosis UK provides secretariat to the APPG and we were pleased to host an event in parliament to support the launch – bringing together policymakers, healthcare professionals, and those with lived experience to discuss the findings of the report.

We want to say a huge thank you to everyone who supported the campaign. Whether you gave evidence to the inquiry, contacted your MP to lobby them to join the launch, or amplified our message online - your voices helped make this moment possible.

We were encouraged to hear from MPs at the launch that many had attended because they had been contacted by constituents affected by endometriosis - demonstrating the power of campaigning and the impact that sharing your experiences can have.

This is a great start, but what matters most is what happens next. The report's launch is not the end of the conversation, but the beginning of the hard work to secure meaningful change for everyone affected by endometriosis in the workplace.

We are already taking the report's recommendations forward, including discussions and roundtables with policymakers on the next steps. However, we need the Government to hear directly from MPs about the experiences of people living with endometriosis and the support that is needed.

That's why we're asking you to write to your MP today using our template letter. We are asking MPs to contact the Secretary of State for Work and Pensions and seek answers on:

  • How the Government plans to engage with Endometriosis UK as it develops the Workplace Health System.
  • How endometriosis and other long-term fluctuating menstrual health conditions will be considered within this work.
  • Whether a named lead can be appointed to engage directly with Endometriosis UK.

Together, we can ensure that the experiences of those living with endometriosis are not overlooked and that future workplace reforms deliver the support that people with long-term fluctuating conditions need and deserve.

The launch of the report was a major milestone, but this work is only just beginning. With your continued support, we can keep this momentum going and make sure this becomes the start of an ongoing conversation that leads to real change.

Use our template letter today and help us make workplaces fairer, more understanding and more supportive for everyone affected by endometriosis.
