We are delighted to welcome British Airways to the Endometriosis Friendly Employer scheme. The airline has pledged their commitment to develop a work environment and culture that enables colleagues with endometriosis to thrive at work.
As part of the Endometriosis Friendly Employer Scheme, Endometriosis UK encourage employers to nominate Endometriosis Champions. Champions are colleagues within the organisation to whom employees can turn for support and information.
British Airways has already nominated 13 amazing Endometriosis Champions who work in different roles across the business and are a main point of contact for other colleagues. They help raise awareness of endometriosis, provide a community to others, and offer advice to line managers.
Tracey, one of the airline’s Endometriosis Champions, explains why they have signed up to the scheme: “I’m really pleased that British Airways has joined the Endometriosis Friendly Employer Scheme and is proactively supporting colleagues who have the condition.
‘This is an important step in providing an inclusive workplace that encourages colleagues to talk about menstrual health and thrive in their day-to-day roles.”
Louise, who also works at British Airways, explains why she decided to volunteer as an Endometriosis Champion: “I decided to volunteer when I saw Tracey share her story with colleagues across the business, raising awareness of endometriosis. I had just been diagnosed myself, so I was really inspired to hear about Tracey’s journey and I instantly wanted to get involved too.
‘Being one of the 13 champions means that I can support others by sharing my experience and knowledge about endometriosis. I am so excited that British Airways are the first airline to sign up to the scheme. I think this will truly help those with the condition to know that their employer can support them.”
