Sage

My name is Sage and I live in North Cornwall. I was diagnosed with deep infiltrating endometriosis via an MRI in October 2024, following almost 21 years of extremely painful periods, what I now know to be pre menstrual dysphoric disorder along with lower back, pelvic and sciatica.

This MRI only followed a hospital stay for kidney stones where, during a scan, my ovaries were found to be adhered with multiple large cysts. Luckily, the sonographer suspected Endometriosis and referred me. I'm forever grateful to her.

For me, I didn't often bleed heavily, and that's why I was dismissed for so many years. But endo feels and presents different in every single person.
I've seen many nurses and doctors over the years and tried all medications/hormonal treatments. In Jan 2026 I am finally seeing a surgeon, and whilst there's no cure for Endometriosis, for me I am seeking surgery as a management.

I joined Endometriosis UK as a volunteer so that hopefully, I can try to help even one person get answers sooner, take back some control and live a full life.

I am unable to offer medical advice as I am not a medical professional, just someone coming out the other side of the endo diagnosis journey that wants to help others.

Outside of this group, I enjoy chess, knitting, wordsearches and cold water swimming!
Looking forward to meeting you all.

In solidarity,
Sage
