Meet the Support Group Leader(s)

Lizzie

Hi, I'm Lizzie, a Support Group Leader for Llantrisant with Endometriosis UK ðŸ’›

I was just 13 when my endometriosis symptoms began – severe pelvic pain, bloating, nausea, and exhaustion that often left me sleeping up to 15 hours a day. Like many others, I was told it was "just normal period pain" and my concerns were dismissed for years.

I struggled for 14 years before receiving a diagnosis. By the time I finally saw a specialist, my pain had become so severe I feared I might need a wheelchair. I was fortunate to have access to private medical insurance through work, which meant I could see an endometriosis specialist quickly and have surgery — something I know isn’t an option for many. That access made a huge difference in my journey, and I recognise the privilege in having access to that care.

Extensive endometriosis was found throughout my pelvis, appendix, colon, and even my diaphragm, and a second excision surgery followed. I’m now a very grateful mum to a healthy little boy — something I was once told might not be possible due to the delays in diagnosis and treatment.

Living with a chronic condition like endometriosis can feel incredibly isolating — especially when you’re not being believed. That’s why I became a support group leader. The Llantrisant group is a safe, inclusive space for everyone, no matter who you are, where you are on your journey or how you access care. Whether you’re newly diagnosed, undiagnosed, managing symptoms, or just want to talk — you are welcome here 💛

Endometriosis UK helped me feel less alone, and now I’m here to help offer that same support to others.
