Guildford Support Group
Rebecca is the support group leader and local contact for the Guildford Endometriosis UK group.
My Story: I’m an endometriosis survivor. I suffered with undiagnosed endometriosis all my adult life until last summer (2015) when I had an operation to specifically remove it from my entire pelvic area and my female reproductive system, which for me has been a huge success.
Over the years I have experienced most of the typical symptoms associated with endometriosis:- monthly pain, fatigue and mood swings when I was a young woman, infertility, backache and depression issues thoughout my thirties and forties and then finally unremitting pain coupled with abdominal discomfort as I reached perimenopause.
Newly energised, I am taking on the role of Support Group Leader (as an unpaid volunteer) for Guildford. I hope to give other women the information and support they need to take control of their own lives and to stop endometriosis from devastating them.
About the Support Group:
Usually we meet on the last Monday evening of the month in the Parentcraft Room in the Gynaecology Suite/Outpatients 1 in the Royal Surrey Hospital from 7 to 9 p.m.
The group hope that we can give women with endometriosis, their partners and familities the support, information, knowledge and shared experience that will help women manage their own condition and make informed decisions about their own healthcare.
Rebecca is aided by MJ Alausa who is a staff nurse at the Royal Surrey Hospital with a particular interest in endometriosis and Laura Speed another volunteer with Endometriosis UK.
Together we will be delighted to welcome you to one of our meetings.
