Payroll giving
Donate through your salary: Why not
suggest your company sets up a payroll
giving scheme? That way you and your fellow employees
can donate through your salaries in the most tax efficient
manner.
What is donating through your salary?
It is often called payroll giving, and is a tax efficient way
of giving directly from your pay. The money comes out of
your salary before it is taxed.
So why give from your salary?
Making a monthly donation through your payroll is one of the
most cost-effective ways of helping us help other women with
endometriosis. Giving to us before you are taxed means the
gift is worth more because the money you would have given
to the Inland Revenue comes to us instead.
How is it worked out?
Did you know that if you donate £10 a month to Endometriosis
UK from your pay, your gift will only cost you £7.80?
The Inland Revenue gives us the extra £2.20! (At the
basic rate of taxation).
What if my company doesn't yet have a scheme that
allows me to donate through my salary?
Don't worry; they are simple to set up. We suggest you talk
to your payroll department to arrange a scheme that allows
you to donate through your salary. They do this by signing
a contract with a Government-approved agency, such as the Charities
Aid Foundation. Once they have done this, you will need to
inform your payroll department of how much you want to donate.
It will then come out of your pay packet before you are taxed.
