Style and Substance
May 5th 2009
Style and Substance is a new event Sistova Productions have set up in order to help support new female performers, in aid of female charities. Our aim is to expose up and coming female talent, from poets to singers, comedians to DJ’s, dancers to actresses, whilst helping to raise the profile and awareness of female charities, £1 from the entry fee is donated to charity. |

As a group founded by females, we wanted to combine our love for live music and the arts with an urge to help raise awareness of charities that support women, but do not perhaps get the kind of exposure they deserve in relation to some of the more predominant charities around.
Our first show was on May 5th 09, in aid of Endometriosis UK. For us endometriosis was the perfect start. In fact, the more we read about the disease, and the more promotion we did, we were amazed to find that a lot of females either had the problem themselves or knew someone who did, which reconfirmed the need to help get the information out there. On the night I even found out my mother suffers with endometriosis, which I was unaware of until that point.
The show was a great success everyone was entertained, enjoyed themselves and learnt about a condition that they may have never been aware of before that date; it was a real eye opener. As a result, shows will now be held on the first Tuesday of every month from the 7th July 09 at The Last Days of Decadence in Shoreditch and will support a different female charity each month. Whilst Endometriosis UK is not the only charity we will be supporting with the Style and Substance shows, we will be dedicating a show to the charity on a yearly basis. Hopefully helping women gain more awareness of the condition as well as raising further funds towards the charity.
We would like to say a big thank you to everyone who turned up on the night to support both the acts and the charity and to Endometriosis UK for their involvement in our show. We look forward to working on this project again in the near future.
