The Great Glitter Picnic 2009

This summer four great picnics were held raising £500 in total and doing so much for raising awareness of endometriosis into the bargain!  Anna Jaminson, Gail Brown and their Belfast Group raised a whopping £235 to win our Glitter Hamper filled with goodies donated by Monsoon and Accessorize as well as bottle of bubbly.

Here’s what they got up to in their own words...

Anna Jaminson and the Belfast Group
Venue: Glitter Party in Belfast

“Only seven girls turned up because of pain, weather….thunder and lightning…..marking exam papers or writing report cards.

“Glitter pom-poms drew amused glances from the ladies who passed us and ADMIRING looks from the men!!!!!”

“We had a great time, the weather was good.

“As we are all Cricket mad, the date fell near my son Matthew's birthday and in amongst the Ashes tests and my little sis was home from Down Under, we decided to have a picnic but to have an Ashes Picnic instead of a Glitter One! This meant that the boys were happier to get involved too.

“Everyone turned up in whites with a hint as to their national allegiance in their dress and we divided in to two teams (The Poms v The Aussies) to play a few silly games (Coconut Shy, Hoopla, Putting and Darts) and added up our team scores. The Aussies won on the day, thankfully as we now know this was not an omen for things to come!

“Cricket tea was a mixture of Cucumber Sandwiches, Prawns on the BBQ, Pimms and Australian Wine!

“We raised £75 and neighbours and friends who passed by, or called in for a drink wanted to know what we were up to and all went away with a leaflet about endo and a better awareness.”

“It was quite a sedate and civilised afternoon - an afternoon tea party with a pink, purple and glitter theme. The food, drink and clothes were all themed! White chocolate and raspberry cookies, pink lemonade, glittery iced fairy cakes and strawberries with clotted cream ice cream - yummy! Then I had Emma the Duck (inspired by the TV series "Bread") collecting money for us. Quite simple really!”
